The European Commission has announced that it will appeal the General Courts’ decision in the Apple-Ireland case. Irish Government’s legal team – which includes Philip Baker QC – will now argue the position before the European Court of Justice. This is the last stage in four years of legal challenge. In July, the EU General Court reversed the European Commission’s 2016 direction to Ireland that sought to recover the benefit of the state aid from Apple, as well as interest.
